There are quartz sands of natural and artificial origin. Sand of natural origin is extracted mechanically from quarries. Artificial – by grinding quartz rocks of fractions of different sizes. The sand resulting from the quartz shredding becomes a raw material in the production of bricks and concrete blocks. Color quartz sand is used in the production of mosaic plasters and other finishing materials, giving the building mix the desired color.

Quartz sand with a particle size of 0.2 to 0.8 mm is widely used in the production of many brands of cement and asphalt coatings, plasters and mortar solutions, polymer products and decorative and finishing materials. Separately, it is worth mentioning the use of quartz sand as a natural water filter – the adsorption capability allows its use in both household appliances and industrial equipment. Quartz sand for sandblasting is an indispensable component of ingredients whereby various surfaces are polished prior to staining or anti-corrosion treatment.

Quartz sand is used in the foundry production, in the manufacture of paints, welding materials, insulation materials, sanitary faience, porcelain and ceramics, glass of all kinds.

Silicon dioxide is also used for water purification – the creation of filters for sewage treatment plants, swimming pools, quartz sand containing aquariums, characterized by the absence of harmful impurities and resistance to chemicals. Silicon dioxide is also used to clean petroleum products from foreign impurities. The quartz sand is used in the food industry to make powdered coffee. The dielectric properties of quartz sand are used in the manufacture of electric fuses.
