The potassium hydroxide is formed by the reaction between potassium carbonate and calcium hydroxide. It is used in the production of special soft potassium soaps, food products, textiles, wood, paper, plastics, tires, computers, electrical equipment, in the manufacture of fine chemicals, base metals, including alloys. Caustic potash is also used in agriculture, forestry, fishing and surgery.
