Sodium caustic is used in bleaching and bleaching processes. The textile industry is used to process cotton and dyed synthetic fibers such as nylon and polyester. It is also used in the production of soap and detergents – the chemical process that converts fats, grease and vegetable oils into soap. It is also used for the manufacture of anionic surfactants, which is an important component in most detergents and cleaning products.

Sodium hydroxide is used to produce a bleaching agent that has industrial and consumer applications, e.g., against mold. It is also used in petroleum products used for exploration, production and processing of oil and natural gas. The chemical industry is used as the main raw material for a wide range of products including solvents, plastics, fabrics, adhesives, coatings, herbicides, paints, inks, pharmaceuticals and more. Anhydrous caustic soda is a white crystalline substance that is highly corrosive. It reacts easily with water, which produces a lot of heat.
Caustic soda absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide from the gases. The sodium base is also dissolved in alcohol and glycerine but is insoluble in ethyl ether and acetone.
